Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a significant enhancement to its nol Card services by enabling e-scooter payments, reinforcing its commitment to smart mobility and cashless transactions. This move aligns with Dubai’s vision of integrating innovative payment solutions to create a seamless and user-centric transportation network.

A Step Towards Smarter Mobility

Salahuddin AlMarzooqi, Director of Automated Collection Systems at RTA, highlighted the strategic intent behind this development. “Integrating nol Card into the electric scooter payment system enhances first and last-mile connectivity, ensuring that public transport is seamlessly linked with flexible mobility solutions,” he stated. The initiative prioritizes user convenience by allowing riders to pay for their e-scooter journeys through the same system they use for other transportation services.

E-scooter users across Dubai can now utilize their nol Card by linking it to operator apps via NFC technology. The feature is available on all RTA-accredited scooter services and supports the purchase of hourly, daily, or monthly packages.

nol Card: Expanding Beyond Transit

The versatility of nol Card extends beyond e-scooters, being widely accepted across Dubai’s public transportation systems, including metro, buses, trams, and marine transport. Additionally, the card can be used for private transport services like taxis and the Nakheel Monorail. Beyond transportation, nol Card facilitates public parking payments, retail purchases, and access to public facilities, including museums and clubs.

To further encourage public transport usage, RTA offers tailored nol packages, such as nol Student and Travel Packages. These packages come with exclusive discounts and promotions across dining, shopping, entertainment, hotels, and airlines, making the card even more appealing for diverse user groups.

Transition to an Advanced Payment System

RTA is also modernizing its nol Card infrastructure by shifting from a Card-Based Ticketing System to an Account-Based System (ABT). This upgrade promises enhanced electronic and financial security while improving operational efficiency. The ABT system introduces innovative features like trip planning, booking, and pre-payment via smart channels, advancing Dubai’s ambition to lead in smart mobility solutions.

Empowering Dubai’s Cashless Vision

By introducing nol Card for e-scooter payments and continuously upgrading its ecosystem, RTA is not only promoting sustainable transportation but also aligning with Dubai’s broader objective of becoming a fully cashless economy. These advancements underline Dubai’s position as a global leader in innovative and integrated transportation solutions.
