Emirates, renowned as the world’s largest international airline, has announced a significant expansion of its Colombo-Dubai service. Starting January 2, 2025, the airline will introduce an additional scheduled flight, EK654/655, increasing seat capacity by an impressive 30%. This strategic move aligns with Sri Lanka’s ambitious tourism targets, aiming to welcome 3 million visitors by the end of 2025.

Enhanced Connectivity and Premium Experience

The new service will operate six times a week, excluding Wednesdays, until March 31, 2025. EK654 will take off from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 10:05 AM, arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Colombo at 4:00 PM. The return flight, EK655, will leave Colombo at 10:05 PM, landing in Dubai at 1:05 AM the next day.

From April 1, 2025, Emirates will further enhance its schedule with a seventh weekly flight on Wednesdays. This additional service will feature a slightly adjusted schedule: departing Colombo at 10:05 PM and arriving in Dubai at 12:55 AM the following day, while the outbound flight from Dubai will depart at 1:20 PM and land in Colombo at 7:15 PM.

With the capacity to accommodate 360 passengers, including 8 luxury suites in First Class, 42 spacious Business Class seats, and 310 Economy Class seats, Emirates ensures a premium travel experience. The additional flights are expected to cater to the growing demand for seamless travel between Sri Lanka and the UAE, offering passengers enhanced convenience and more choices.

Supporting Sri Lanka’s Tourism and Economy

Emirates has been a key player in promoting Sri Lanka’s tourism and trade since it began operations to Colombo in April 1986. The airline’s partnership with Sri Lanka Tourism highlights the nation’s diverse offerings to eco-conscious travelers, focusing on its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty.

With the new flight schedule, Emirates will operate four daily services between Colombo and Dubai, offering over 2,800 seats daily and a cargo capacity of up to 160 tonnes. This expanded capacity underscores the airline’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s tourism, export industries, and economic growth.

To date, Emirates has flown over 12 million passengers to and from Colombo, solidifying its position as a crucial link between Sri Lanka and the rest of the world.

A Strong Foundation for Growth

The additional flights are set to play a pivotal role in helping Sri Lanka achieve its tourism goals. By offering more travel options and maintaining a long-standing strategic partnership with the country, Emirates is fostering sustainable growth in the region’s travel and hospitality sectors.

As Sri Lanka positions itself as a top global destination, Emirates’ expanded operations reflect the airline’s dedication to delivering world-class service while supporting its partner countries’ economic aspirations.
