Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an innovative app-based bus pooling service, enabling residents and visitors to share minibus rides through a convenient booking system. This latest initiative is designed to provide a fast, flexible, and cost-effective alternative to private vehicles and traditional public buses, aligning with Dubai’s vision of fostering sustainable urban mobility.
Flexible Routes and Dynamic Pricing
Unlike standard public buses with fixed routes, the bus pooling service offers dynamic routes based on passenger demand. Initially, the service is available in Deira, connecting key business and leisure hubs such as Business Bay, Dubai Mall, Mirdif, and Dubai Festival City. Over time, the initiative will expand to cover more areas, ensuring a seamless transportation experience across the emirate.
The pricing structure for the service is variable, determined by the distance traveled and the level of demand. Passengers can opt for single-trip fares or choose weekly and monthly subscription plans, catering to a wide range of commuting needs.
Advanced Technology and Strategic Partnerships
To deliver a high-quality experience, RTA has partnered with three leading transportation companies that specialize in smart mobility solutions. These companies—Citylink Shuttle, DrivenBus, and Fluxx Daily—manage a fleet of 60 minibuses, each equipped with seating capacities ranging from 13 to 30 passengers. Bookings are facilitated through user-friendly apps, ensuring a hassle-free experience for commuters.
“This initiative keeps pace with global public transportation trends by leveraging advanced technology to provide on-demand, cost-efficient solutions,” said Ahmed Hashim Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency. “It offers a practical alternative to unlicensed transportation while helping reduce traffic congestion and promoting sustainability.”
