A Landmark Decision to Elevate Urban Living

Al Dhaid Municipality, in collaboration with Sharjah Municipality, has announced the implementation of a paid parking system across Al Dhaid City beginning January 1, 2025. This strategic move aims to enhance urban infrastructure, streamline parking usage, and align with Sharjah’s rapid growth as a hub for tourism, investment, and economic activity.

Modernizing Parking for Efficiency and Growth

H.E. Hamad Rashid Al Tunaiji, Director of Al Dhaid Municipality, emphasized the importance of this initiative in addressing parking misuse and supporting the city’s urban development. “Introducing paid parking reinforces Al Dhaid’s position as a modern urban hub while mitigating negative behaviours that impact residents and businesses,” he stated.

Key Details of the Paid Parking System

  • Operational Hours: Paid parking will be enforced from 8 AM to 10 PM, Saturday through Thursday. Parking remains free on Fridays, except in designated zones marked by blue signage.
  • Coverage: Approximately 1,900 parking spaces have been designated as paid zones.
  • Payment Options: Users can pay via coin-operated machines, SMS, the Sharjah Digital app, the Mawaqif app, or prepaid cards.
  • Infrastructure: 19 payment kiosks, 7 large signage boards, and 161 smaller directional signs have been installed to guide motorists.

Enhancing Infrastructure and Accessibility

A joint task force from Sharjah and Al Dhaid municipalities has been established to oversee this project. Their efforts include feasibility studies, acquiring permits, and launching an extensive public awareness campaign to ensure smooth implementation.

H.E. Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, Director-General of Sharjah Municipality, highlighted the collaboration’s significance. “This initiative reflects the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, driving Al Dhaid’s transformation into a focal point of economic and tourism activity,” he noted.

Maintaining Compliance Through Advanced Monitoring

To uphold the integrity of the new system, advanced digital monitoring vehicles will conduct regular inspections. This ensures compliance, reduces misuse, and maintains the system’s effectiveness.

A Step Towards Sustainable Urban Development

The introduction of paid parking represents a pivotal shift in Al Dhaid’s journey towards sustainable urban living. By streamlining parking usage, supporting local businesses, and enhancing infrastructure, this initiative promises to bolster Al Dhaid’s appeal as a vibrant and modern city within the Emirate of Sharjah.
