UAE’s Visa Waiver Programme Now Covers More Countries

In a significant move to strengthen ties with India and boost tourism, the UAE has expanded its visa waiver programme for Indian passport holders. The latest update, effective from February 13, allows Indian nationals with valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from six additional countries to enter the UAE without prior visa approval. This is expected to make travel more seamless and convenient for Indian visitors and their families.

More Countries Added to the Visa-on-Arrival List

Previously, Indian passport holders could only avail themselves of the visa-on-arrival facility if they had valid visas or residence permits from the United States, European Union nations, or the United Kingdom. However, under the revised regulations by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), the UAE has extended this privilege to Indian travelers who hold valid residency permits from:

  • Singapore
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Canada

This expansion means that a larger segment of Indian travelers can now enjoy easier access to the UAE, further strengthening economic and cultural connections between the two nations.

Visa Fees & Validity Details

The ICP has also outlined the cost and validity for visas granted under the expanded visa waiver programme:

  • 14-day entry visa: AED 100
  • 14-day extension: AED 250
  • 60-day visa: AED 250

To be eligible, Indian passport holders must ensure their passports have a minimum validity of six months and must pay the applicable fees upon arrival at any UAE entry point.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties & Economic Growth

The decision to expand the visa waiver programme is seen as a reflection of the strong cultural and economic ties between the UAE and India. By simplifying the travel process for Indian visitors, the UAE aims to boost tourism, attract skilled professionals, and encourage more investments from Indian entrepreneurs.

Impact on Tourism & Business in the UAE

This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on multiple sectors, including tourism, real estate, and business investments. As one of the most preferred destinations for Indian travelers, the UAE stands to gain from increased visitor inflow, ultimately benefiting its hospitality and retail industries.

Moreover, by easing entry requirements, the UAE is positioning itself as a global hub for talent and business, encouraging highly skilled professionals and entrepreneurs from India to consider long-term residency and investment opportunities in the country.

Conclusion

The UAE’s expanded visa waiver programme for Indian travelers is a landmark decision that will make travel more convenient and accessible. With the inclusion of Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada in the visa-on-arrival eligibility list, Indian nationals can now experience greater flexibility when visiting the UAE for tourism or business. This initiative not only strengthens diplomatic relations but also enhances the UAE’s appeal as a global investment and tourism hub.
